Ris1 subfamily
The archetype of this subfamily is the Ris1 protein from S cerevisiae, which interacts with Sir4p and has a role in mating type silencing 1. Members are found in all fungi and the plant genomes, but not in animals or lower eukaryotes.
Although the yeast and plant Ris1 subfamily sequences are similar, it is possible that they represent independent diversifications.
